I’d like to welcome and thank KyAnn Waters for allowing me to interview her.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a wife to my real life hero, a mother to two amazing boys, an author of romance (mostly erotic) and a friend to most. Yeah, we all have a bitchy side too and I’m no exception. But if you feed me sugar it tames my inner bit…witch.
Q: When and why did you begin writing?
I think like most writers, I’ve always written. But I didn’t attempt publication until 2006.
Q: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Nope. Just a story that hopefully entertains. I want you to sympathize and empathize with all three characters. Gretchen is a good person until she is faced with a life she fears. Landon made mistakes in his youth but has such high hopes for the future and Crystal finds herself falling in love with a man who may never be hers. In the end I think readers will agree, the story ends as it should.
Q: What authors have most influenced you? Why?
I honestly don’t have an answer for this. I read a lot and that’s how I discovered what I didn’t want to write. As the years have gone on, I’ve found I like a bit of emotional damage to my heroes. I like heroines who know what they want and go after it, but still have a vulnerable side. In the beginning I liked to write family drama with children, love and loss. Now I like a lot of sex, edgy virile heroes and passionate heroines.
Q: What are you reading now?
Delilah Devlin. But I’ll probably finish it tonight. I want to pick up a highlander next.
Q: What is your favorite punctuation mark and why?
An !…! Because I want them and my editors won’t let me have them!
Q: Tell us about your new release.
Betrayed Vows is a story I wrote several years ago. The story isn’t a typical romance. In the beginning you meet Gretchen. At first you might think she is the heroine, but she actually becomes the antagonist. As the reader, there are no mysteries for you. You know every devious thing Gretchen is plotting. Hopefully you’ll be cheering for our hero, Landon as he tries to avoid being snared in her machinations.
Everything in Gretchen Booker’s life was as she wanted it. A husband on her terms. Companionship without physical contact. That’s why she married a lifer. Who would’ve thought it would all come to an end after only ten years?
Life on the outside is not as Landon Booker expected. But how can he make a future for himself beyond prison walls when the woman who is supposed to love him wants to see him sent back to the penitentiary.
Crystal Evans isn’t a home wrecker. Landon needs a friend…someone who can help protect him from his conspiring wife. Falling in love wasn’t part of the plan.
Yet vows betrayed leave all three with something to lose—Crystal her heart, Landon his freedom, and Gretchen the life she had before.
Gretchen slipped around the side of Crystal’s house. Under the canopy of wisteria she took the small pills from her pocket and rolled them around in her palm. She had no idea what effect they’d have on Landon. What if he had a bad reaction? Calvin assured her they were a mellow high designed to heighten pleasure. If Landon became arduous would she be able to follow through? If it meant keeping him from Crystal, absolutely. If the drug was as potent as Calvin led her to believe, Landon wouldn’t notice if she wasn’t engrossed in his affection.
Glancing around, she made sure she was still alone. Then she opened the capsules, spilling the drug powder into a cup of soda. She swirled the contents and sniffed the drink. She detected no odor and there wasn’t any discernible signs floating on top. She took a deep breath of steely determination. Now or never, she thought as she went in search of Landon.
