Featured author Anna Lores

Today I have the pleasure of featuring author Anna Lores and her book Ella’s Triple Pleasure. The first chapter of this book is in Passionate Cravings, an erotic book sampler.Passionate Cravings

Are you in control of your characters or do they control you?

Control is a big challenge for me… Who gets the power in the story? I like to think I control my characters by placing them in situations they may or may not like, but they seem to control their thoughts and emotions.

What drew you to the characters in this story?

I thought about writing a reverse harem story after a miserable week of kids being sick and my husband being out of town. I remember the night I started penning Ella’s Triple Pleasure. I had gotten the kids to bed (in my bed) and went to the couch to wind down. I thought, wouldn’t it be nice to have three men to help take care of the kids so I could take a break. I turned my emotional struggle into Ella’s financial one. The men drew me in because each one was different and could handle different aspects of everyday life…and rocked it between the sheets. I was hooked on these characters and their unconditional love for each other.

What is your favorite punctuation mark and why?

My favorite punctuation mark…hmmm…uh…well…I’d have to think about that one… 😉

Tell us about Ella’s Triple Pleasure.

It takes three men to satisfy one woman’s needs…

Single mom and massage therapist Ella Winthrop isn’t looking for a relationship. She has Ella's Triple Pleasureenough problems without risking a business that barely meets her needs. Then her world is turned upside down by three men, each offering something she isn’t prepared for—love so deep it hurts, sex so hot she’s afraid she’ll melt from the pleasure, and a future beyond her wildest dreams.

Steamy businessman Cade Jackson has it all—money, looks, a giving heart, and a dominant nature—but Ella refuses to date a client even if she’s lusted after him for a year. After his brother’s death, Garrett Winthrop moves back to town opening old wounds and even darker fantasies. Dr. Derek McGregor gives her balance and understanding that speaks to her soul. All three men force Ella to question the limits of a traditional relationship.

Excerpt:

“So, is it too soon to ask for a foot massage?” Cade sported a slight curve at the corners of his mouth. “You know how much I like my feet rubbed.”

She laughed and turned to face him. He did it again. He made an uncomfortable situation comfortable and pushed away her doubts. “Cade Jackson, you’re a liar. You hate your feet rubbed. You squirm like a worm while I’m working on them.” She playfully squeezed his large muscular bicep. Yum.

He raised his hands in surrender as she let go. His shirt lifted and showed off bodybuilder abs worth drooling over. “I didn’t think you noticed. You’d rub my feet for ten agonizing minutes every Tuesday. Were you trying to torture me?”

She branched out from her normal course of action and tried a move at seduction. Her first. Ever. She leaned toward him and whispered, “I’ve been waiting for you to tell me you didn’t like it.”

“But I do like it.” He placed his hands on the edge of the table. Hiwrinkled the linen tablecloth. “It hurts, but it feels so good afterward.” He lifted a lock of her hair near her cheek and tucked it behind her ear. “Let’s go back to the main house and eat dessert.”

He traced the side of her neck with his fingers down to her collarbone. A soft wave of shivers rippled over her flesh. The proximity of his smoking-hot body and lips pushed her into lust hyper-drive. All he’d have to do was kiss her earlobe, and she’d have an orgasm.

“Do you want to wrap up the leftovers and bring them with us?”

“The fridge is stocked at the main house.” He glided his hand over her shoulder and down her arm to her hand. “Ready?”

He curled his fingers around her hand and tugged her up.

She nodded, standing on unsteady legs.

“Um, sure?” Am I ready for dessert with Cade?

She swallowed.

She could do the food kind but hoped he meant a naughtier kind of ending to their meal.

Featured author Roxanne D. Howard

Today I’m featuring Roxanne D. Howard and her story WHEN YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES which is in PASSIONATE CRAVINGS, an Erotic Book Sampler.

Are you in control of your characters or do they control you?

I start out in control. I like to outline and know the concrete map of the story, but usuallyPassionate Cravings a character will whammy me over the head with a line or two, or a direction I didn’t see them going in. For the most part I like to stay in control, but I think a story doesn’t really take off until a character breaks free and becomes their own entity.

What drew you to the characters in this story?

The concept of two broken people finding each other in a world so busy and distracted. Also, Lark’s journey of self-discovery and ultimate change is something I think many readers can identify with. Life is like the ocean, it comes in waves, and often we find ourselves riding a wave we didn’t expect. In Lark’s case, Niall.

What is your favorite punctuation mark and why?

I am a sucker for the semicolon. I don’t know why. I usually spend a few days after a book is done, going through and modifying my sentences and removing dozens of them.

It’s just cute and I abuse the heck out of it.

Lark watched the fat pigeon’s head bobble as he scavenged along the pavement. He cocked his head to the side as she and Maisie Robertson sprinted toward him, spread his wings and flew a few feet away, then continued to forage in peace.

The rising sun spread over Regent’s Park, and Lark pumped her arms for warmth. The brisk wind off the Thames River became more prominent, snuffing out the last vestiges of summer with cooler autumn days. Lark coughed and slowed to a walk. Wisps of hair escaped her ponytail and fell into her eyes. “Hang on. We’ll run again in a minute, Maisie,” she huffed. Yes, it was complete bullshit. They’d totally walk the rest of the way. She had no more umph in her. But it was nice to pretend and give it the old college try.

“No, let’s stop. I’m done in,” Maisie said, panting, her London accent labored from their run. Taller than she, Maisie’s freckled, fawn-colored skin glistened with perspiration. She stretched her arms high above her curly black hair as they slowed their pace.

A few coughs rattled Lark’s chest. She ignored the concern on Maisie’s face as she fished inside her black velour sweat-suit jacket for her cigarette and lighter. She flicked the lighter open and brought the cigarette tip to the flame. She puffed and took a long drag. The butt dangled from her cold fingers with an ashy glow. She did try e-cigs a while back, but the plastic against her lips held no appeal. She paused to admire the neat green hedgerows and rows of blue-marbled crocuses nearby.

A bright blanket of sun lit the dewy grass. Lark blew the smoke out the side of her mouth and grinned as she joined Maisie and walked along the concrete path. “I should have run while you were on holiday, but I wasn’t motivated enough on my own. Watch the sparks fly off my thighs.”

“And mine. I ate way too much over there.” Maisie laughed. “How did the temp do?”

The daft, nineteen-year-old London girl spent more time making updates to her Twitter account and flirting with the FedEx delivery guy than producing any actual work. “Christina wasn’t you,” she said lightly. “I’m glad you’re back, though I’m sure you’d rather be in Goa.”

Maisie scrunched her nose. “Why on earth would I want to lie on a warm, sunny beach and watch hot men walk by when I can stand here and freeze my ass off?”

Lark laughed. “No clue. Were there a lot of cute guys?”

“I didn’t notice, mate. My job on this holiday was to keep the kids in line and yell at Thomas not to wreck his sister’s sand castles.”

“Did it work?”

“No. He’s in a terrorize-his-sister phase. He wrecked them anyway. And time out at the hotel room isn’t much of a punishment.” Maisie chuckled. “Bless his naughty little heart. But enough about my demonic children. What’s new here?”

Lark licked her lips against the cool air. “I had another dream last night.”

“Same guy?”

“Yeah.” A shiver which had nothing to do with the autumn wind spread through her.

Featured Author Michal Scott

Today I’m featuring Michal Scott who’s first chapter of  Better To Marry Than To Burn is included in PASSIONATE CRAVINGS, An Erotic Romance Book Sampler.Passionate Cravings

Michal would you answer a few questions for us?

Are you in control of your characters or do they control you?

I’m a plotter on steroids and so am totally in control of my characters.

What drew you to the characters in this story?

My favorite literary pairing is Beatrice and Benedict from Much Ado About Nothing. So I was drawn to the idea of what if B&B were African-Americans in Reconstruction America, he an ex-slave and she a freeborn Northener.

What is your favorite punctuation mark and why?

The colon. I love receiving permission to keep on talking and the colon does exactly that. :  )

Could you tell us a little about your book?

Freed Man seeking woman to partner in marriage for at least two years in the black township of Douglass, Texas. Must be willing and able to help establish a legacy. Marital relations as necessary. Love neither required nor sought.

Caesar King’s ad for a mail-order bride is an answer to Queen Esther Payne’s prayer. Her BetterToMarryThanToBurn_w12232_300family expects her to adhere to society’s traditional conventions of submissive wife and mother, but Queen refuses. She is not the weaker sex and will not allow herself to be used, abused or turned into a baby-making machine under the sanctity of matrimony. Grateful that love is neither required nor sought, she accepts the ex-slave’s offer and heads West for marriage on her terms. Her education and breeding will see to that. However, once she meets Caesar, his unexpected allure and intriguing wit makes it hard to keep love at bay. How can she hope to remain her own woman when victory may be synonymous with surrender?

She pulled the wagon to a stop. “Care to take over?”

She held the reins before him. He nodded. She handed over the reins, crossed her arms and stared at him. “Tell me more about Emma.”

He shrugged. That kind of detail hadn’t been part of the bargain, but…

“Not much to tell. She used to teach us slaves in secret, then openly when Union forces secured our town. I was her star pupil. We married and came West for a fresh start. She died giving birth to twin boys soon after we arrived. They followed her within a few hours.”

A soft light shone at him from her eyes. “Sorry for your loss.”

“None needed. Good comes from bad. Death, not slavery, took my boys from me. They never had to live as someone’s property.” He sat a little straighter. “Our children will never have to worry about that.”

“Our children?” She swiveled in her seat. “You made no mention of wanting children, just marital relations as necessary. I understood that to mean intercourse.”

“I wrote I wanted to leave a legacy.”

“A legacy. Not a dynasty.”

“Legacy. Dynasty. Is there really so sharp a distinction?”

“To my mind there is. I understood you meant to affect future generations—endow schools, found churches, create civic associations. I didn’t realize that meant children. I agreed to having sex, not having children.”

“Of course I want children.” His brows grew heavy as he frowned. “Doesn’t having sex lead to having children?”

“Not with the right precautions.”

His frown deepened. “Precautions?”

“There are many ways to prevent your seed from taking root, Mr. King.”

“I want children, Mrs. King.”

Her lips twisted and her brow furrowed, but she kept her silence.

“All right,” she said. “You can have children with any woman you like. I won’t stop you. I free you from any claim to fidelity.”

“Legacy—or dynasty if you will—means legitimacy. No bastard will carry my name, not when I have a wife to bear me children.”

“I see.”
