Blurb: Leather-wearing, motorcycle riding PI Heaven Vaughan is working undercover in a Las Vegas casino for the DA. She must find the evidence to convict the casino boss of ordering her brother killed, but the tall, dark, sex-on-a-stick head of security is constantly watching her. Just knowing he’s got his monitors focused on her makes her hot, and she can’t help but make sure he has something as equally arousing to look at.

Straight-arrow Darius Turner has one job—to safeguard the people in the casino. The feisty redhead dominating his viewing pleasure is playing havoc with his duties and with his libido. All he wants is to take her up on her teasing invitations, but he can’t let her get too close. If Heaven discovers his true identity, there’ll be hell to pay.

Excerpt :

After scolding herself, she got back to work.

She had to find the evidence quickly before Darius realized what she was up to.

Near the end of her shift, she grabbed a tray, a bottle of single-malt whiskey, a glass, and headed

toward the boss’s office. She knocked on the door. No one answered, so she slipped in.

Setting the tray on the coffee table, she scanned the room and sat down at the desk. She didn’t know the computer password, so she opened the drawer on the right.

At the sound of the soft scraping of the door on the lush carpet, she froze.

Darius filled the doorway. “What are you doing here?”

Quietly, she closed the drawer. “I was told to bring the boss a bottle of scotch.”

Darius nodded at the bottle on the tray. “I see.”

“You do a lot of that.”

“What are you doing behind the desk?” His low, measured voice sent shivers through her.

“Nothing.” She shrugged. When he did not respond, she said, “The truth is, I need to get

another computer. I figured the boss would have the top of the line with all the bells and whistles.” She forced a smile. “Just checking it out.” She got up and edged around the desk, hoping to get to the door before Darius pressed the control in his pocket

to call his men.

He blocked her. His rock-solid frame resembled a wall yet excited her. Taking a calming

breath, she tried to walk around him.

Winter’s Kiss Blog Tour

wk-booktour

Today’s new release is Winter’s Kiss by Darlene Fredette

Return to beautiful Redford Falls: a woman who knows what she wants and a man who knows what he needs.

Publisher: Escape Publishing

Genre: Contemporary
Rating: Sweet (PG)
Average Page Count: 112
BLURB

She’s been on a flight from hell for over eight hours, lost four hours of daylight, and arrived in temperatures twenty degrees lower than accustomed to. Disliking winter for awinters-kiss-cover reason she refuses to discuss, Danielle Lerato would rather be anywhere than in Redford Falls. She needs to get the job done and return home before getting caught up in the small town’s charm…and the arms of the handsome, brown-eyed restaurant owner.

Andrew Haley’s first encounter with the buttery blonde didn’t go so well, and he well-remembers the chill of the glass of water she dumped over his head. Now, two years later, a raging storm drops Danielle back into his life. She’s determined to leave, but he’ll do whatever it takes to convince her to fall in love with Redford Falls…and him.

Short Excerpt:

Danielle probably looked a hideous mess. Her hair had come loose from the clip on the top of her head. Sleep masked her eyes. She wanted nothing more than to wash her face and sterilize her hands from the airborne germs she encountered on the plane. “I’ve been on the flight from hell for over eight hours. I’ve lost four hours of daylight, and the temperature here is twenty degrees lower than where I live.” She pulled the straps of her leather jacket tight around her waist. “I have to rent a car and drive two hours to a small town where, if I blink I’ll miss it.” She waved a pointed finger in the air for dramatic effect. “I’d rather be anywhere but here.”

 Bio:

Darlene resides on the East Coast of Canada with her husband, daughter, and Yellow Lab. When not working on her next book, she enjoys spending time with her family. An avid reader since childhood, Darlene loves to develop the many stories swimming in her head. She writes heartwarming contemporary romances with a focus on plot-driven page-turners.

Featured Author Barbara Edwards

https://barbaraedwardscomments.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/fea358_ad3062b300bf4872a1b30fb743d694e6mv2-3.jpg

Annie’s Heart was the result of a dream I had about living on the Kansas plains after the Civil War ended. I researched the area and found the hardships settlers faced to be overwhelming. I was surprised so many not only survived, but thrived. Annie is a strong woman with too many problems, but she is a survivor.

I hope you take this opportunity to read about her.

Blurb:

Only two coins and a gold pendant heart separate widowed ANNIE MOSS from disaster. The fields need to be plowed, the barn repaired and food stored for the winter, but she is alone and afraid. Her dream of a home for her children hangs from the promise of a wandering man to keep moving on, a man she has no reason to trust.

TRACE RANDOLPH has lost everything except his honor, so when a desperate ANNIE saves his life he knows he must pay his debt, even if it means marrying her. The only promise he makes is to leave before the winter snows. A promise he finds impossible to keep.

Excerpt:

Trace wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and hefted another bundle of shingles https://barbaraedwardscomments.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/scan00011.jpg?w=198&h=300onto his shoulder. The sweat dripped off him and he knew he smelled like an old goat. He wondered if Annie had noticed, or if he were the only one suffering from this itch. His mouth was parched and he made a note to purchase more mints when he visited town. A blister burned on his heel. And work shoes. His high-heeled boots weren’t designed for doing farm chores.

He planned on taking a quick dip in the creek later to wash away his ripe odor. The scent of lavender, light and delicate as the woman herself, filled his head. Annie stood behind him. He turned. She smiled and held out a dripping glass of water. Nodding his thanks, he swallowed the drink with pleasure. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and her blue eyes flicked from his fingers to his mouth.

“When do you expect to be done?”

A longing to touch her seared him like a hot poker. Trace jerked his gaze from her mouth to eye the rising sun and gathering clouds. He gauged the daylight hours left.

“Maybe by tonight. It looks like rain, and I hope to have it completed so you won’t be inconvenienced again.”

Her fingers trembled slightly when she held out her hand for the empty glass. His gaze darted to her face. She blushed at his bold stare and stepped back.

“I’m sure I never implied–”

“No, you didn’t, but I have eyes in my head. You need your privacy. I intend to get Digger’s bunk ready as well as my own.”

She blushed a color reminiscent of the climbing roses in his mother’s garden. He realized she was embarrassed by his reference to sleeping arrangements. He was enchanted by her sweet reaction. A woman so innocent shouldn’t be the mother of two children.

Her gaze dropped to the ground as she hugged the glass to her breasts. The dripping condensation soaked into the fabric. She didn’t notice the wet material clinging to her soft outline, but he did. Heat pulsed low in his groin. He longed to trace the outline of dampness with his mouth.

“I need to go into town. Would you like to come?” Trace didn’t know where the suggestion sprang from, but Annie’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, then dimmed.

“But we have chores to…”

“Let Digger do them,” he interrupted.

She hesitated. Cackling laughter followed by a whoop of excitement broke the silence stretching between them. Annie gave him a shaky nod before heading back toward the house.

Trace cursed under his breath as he watched the sweet sway of her hips when she climbed the shallow steps to the porch. Annie was soft and curvy in all the right places. She cast him a quick glance before darting inside.

Immortal Winter, a stand-alone dystopian paranormal romance
by New York Times bestselling authors N.R. Larry and Margo Bond Collins

02055-amazon2b252812529

Excerpt:

I woke in my ice tower, covered in a coating of sweat, lying next to a dead body.

With a gasp, I scrambled back against the headboard of my own bed. Other than the motionless figure beside me, nothing around me had changed, though it was tinted yellow from the flickering lanterns.

Arina’s dead body?

I’d never seen a corpse. Not a real one. I eyed the spike sticking out of her forehead and the odd snarl twisting her open mouth. My head swam and I swallowed convulsively.

I knew I needed to act, but all I could manage to do was let Arina continue to bleed out—onto the sheets and onto me. I should have been screaming. I should have been throwing myself off the bed and toward the window. But I didn’t, anchored in place by fire and sweat and blood.

I tried to connect the scene in front of me to some memory, something that swam barely out of reach. I stretched after it, catching a fragment: yesterday was Arina’s day. The day I wouldn’t be alone.

A pain day.

I looked forward to those. That much I knew.

Forcing myself to sit up, I scooted away from her still form, my jaw clenched with the memory of pain. I would have laughed at what lingered but there was a body to attend to. Stumbling out of bed, I stepped out of my clothes and limped toward my ivory dresser. On the way, my feet grazed against something rough. Some imperfection in the ice. Something that wasn’t there before.

I backed up and stared down at the message scratched into the ice, blood swiped across it to highlight the letters, like ink rubbed on a seal impression to darken the image.

She found me. She knows. Went to warn them. Don’t take the infusions. Watch out for Kip.

My body began to tremble, even before my mind caught up.

Yesterday.

Highway Cafe Christmas Blog Tour

2016christmastour

On December 5, 6, 7…
The elves are on the loose at the North Pole!
We’re spreading the Christmas spirit with recipes, crafts, stories, and lots of giveaways!

Hi everyone. I’m Taleisin Elafir, one of Santa’s elves.

I work at the North Pole and I have the most important job for Santa. I taking care of the reindeer, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blixen and of course the king himself, Rudolph.

I make sure they play fairly while playing reindeer games. We don’t want a repeat of— well you know. The flying reindeer have such fragile egos.

While I’m working, I love to listen to Lady Antebellum, ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside.’ All the reindeer love this music too, well except Rudolph. He like the old Christmas songs sung by Frank Sinatra, so I mix them up to keep everyone happy.

I’ll be giving away a pair of beautiful hand-crafted earrings to my Secret Santa Krafty Kelly. Her job at the North Pole is wrapping presents in a creative, decorative way. But beware, because you might find tricky surprises in that wrapping…I love being crafty in a devious way, too and will be  giving away a pair of hand-crafted earrings to  one lucky person who leave a comment on this page!

I eat Christmas cookies and drink eggnog, as I feed the reindeer carrots.  Here is the recipe that Mrs. Clause makes especially for me.

New Release – The Warrior in Me by Anita Philmar

Today I’m featuring The Warrior in Me, a Erotic Murder Mystery/ Romantic Suspense by Anita Philmar.

Special Security Agent Sebastian Berlin is eager to track down his partner’s killer. Instead, perf5.000x8.000.inddhe’s assigned the job of baby-sitting a scientist. His boss thinks she’s the key to an Ancient Warrior Prophecy. Science never interested Sebastian, but the know-it-all female standing at the end of his Alaskan dock could persuade him to do a little experimenting. That is, if he can keep his Neanderthal Warrior genes from taking control.

DNA specialist Lily Sinclair is in need of a vacation, or so her over-protective ex-husband tells her. Arriving in chilly Alaska instead of sunny Cancun, she’s tired and cranky and so not in the mood for her bodyguard’s he-man tactics. Still, there’s something about the sexy eye-candy that makes her want to lick him all over even as she’s demanding to go home.

Then Lily’s ex is poisoned, and Sebastian is certain the two murders are connected and she could be next. She knows he’s hiding something, but with the worldwide release of Neanderthal DNA project only days away, she has no choice but to trust him to protect her. But can she trust him with her heart?

Excerpt:

Seconds before his mouth covered hers, she whispered, “Sebastian, I don’t—” The rest of the sentence died under the quick spear of his tongue, seeking entrance into the hot moist haven of her mouth.

The fight he expected didn’t fully materialize. She gasped in shock, and her body stiffened. Then she lifted her hands to his shoulders, leaving the few inches between them vacant.

Tightening his grip, he drew the soft cushion of her breasts invitingly against his chest. All too quickly, he moved past the point of a simple kiss and fed on her unique flavor. He’d gone too long without the seductive touch of a woman. Today, she’d tempted him with the fire of her anger and the gentle concern for him at the loss of his friend. Holding himself in check, he’d resisted until she’d revealed her passion for her research. Now, he couldn’t contain his enthusiasm for her any longer. He ate at her lips, nipping and sucking until they opened wider.

Lily moaned, and he captured the sound, swallowing it as he flicked his tongue against the roof of her mouth. She welcomed him by drawing him deeper. He thrust in and out, over and over mimicking the ancient rhythm of sex.

Determined to sample every inch of the hot, moist cavity, he drank in the rich, sweet nectar. As stimulating as wine, he became drunk on her and tangled his tongue around hers. Time lost meaning. He forgot everything except her hands in his hair, her body plastered against his, the relentless need to consume her.

Somewhere in his subconscious, something reminded him that women didn’t progress from “Hello, it nice to meet you” to “Do you want to go to bed with me” this quickly. On the other hand, maybe, the light tingling of his scalp as she curled her fingers in his hair helped jog his memory. He had to take things a little slower if he wanted to win the girl.

New Release, TARTAN TEMPTATION, 50% off.

My new book, Tartan Temptation is on sale today and my wonderful publisher is giving you a chance to read it for 50% off. Enjoy!

Blurb: Financial planner Cora Siegfried has returned to her hometown to settle her late tartantemptation_w10679_300father’s estate. Get in, get out, that’s the plan. When she’s almost run over by a kilt-wearing hottie on a motorcycle, all her well-laid plans go up in smoke, and all she can think about is getting well laid by her childhood crush. But after what she hoped would be a one-night stand, leaving him might not be as easy. Talk about a tartan temptation.

With his throne on the line, Brodie Murdock needs to secure his kingdom by taking a bride. When the only woman he’s ever wanted steps right into his path, he knows the legends are true. She is his destiny. The feisty female isn’t hard to seduce into his bed for the night, but she’s proving difficult to convince they are meant for forever. And then there’s the secret that could destroy any chance of their future–a secret he’s not ready to confess. Not until his stubborn soul mate admits she needs him for more than sex.

Excerpt:

She smoothed along the tight fabric covering her thighs. “I’m wearing a skirt.”

He pointed to his kilt. “So am I.”

The corners of her mouth turned up, and his heart warmed. “It’s simple. Just take your skirt here—” He grabbed the front hem of his kilt. “—and hike your leg over the seat.”

Mischief shone in her eyes as she placed her hand where he showed her on her pencil skirt, “You mean like this?” She couldn’t raise her leg very far off the ground. “Mine’s too tight.”

He had already noticed how it hugged her hips. “Then hike up your skirt, lass, and hop on your chariot.”

Before she could reply, a crack of thunder shook the ground and lightening flashed across the sky.

Brodie sensed not only the approaching storm but the storm of emotions raging inside Cora. He couldn’t leave her alone. “Get on the bike. We have to get out of here.” He climbed on the motorcycle, tucking the kilt under him, and extended his hand. “Come.”

She gazed at him for a second, then pulled the strap of her purse over her head, hiked-up her proper, business-length skirt to the point of indecency, and swung her leg over the seat behind him.

He shouldn’t be encouraging her to spend time with him. It was crazy to tempt the gods, but he couldn’t help himself. She was a damsel in distress, and he had to rescue the woman connected to his heartblood.

When Cora wrapped her hands around him, his chest tightened. He struggled to keep his wits about him as he gazed up at the clouds. They had to get to safety.

Gunning the throttle of the motorcycle, they raced down the street to their fate.

New Release: The AMBASSADOR’S DAUGHTER by Venus Cahill

the-ambassadors-daughter-banner

THE AMBASSADOR’S DAUGHTER
by Venus Cahill
Available September 27, 2016
This is the story of a man who dared to listen to the land and the woman who went in the face of society to change the world.

Lady Valaria and Master Dallam may reside in vastly different social strati, but deep down inside they are very much alike. Both have family issues that push them to succeed and both wear blinders when it comes to certain aspects of their world. Lady Valaria, the ambassador’s daughter, is a scientist who believes many of Earth’s problems exist because people are not eating the nutrients they need. She is fascinated to find that someone on her planet, Master Dallam, has coaxed the barren landscape into offering up her bounty.

There is an instant attraction when the two meet, however, both are determined to ignore it and get on with the business at hand. Things start looking up for this headstrong couple but fate and a certain hateful half-brother set a wrench in the works. And when that doesn’t work he resorts to greater measures to rid himself of any obstacles to achieving his political dreams. Will good conquer evil, and will Valaria and Dallam live happily-ever-after?

BLURB

Dallam’s sleep-weary voice startled her, and she turned to see he had stripped off most of The Ambassadors Daughter (2).jpghis clothing. A pair of loose-fitting cotton pants hung low on his lean hips.

Her eyes traced the muscles of his torso. She sat there staring at him as he lounged against the doorframe before finding her voice. “I’m sorry I’ve invaded your space. I thought you would have turned in for the night. I’ll leave.”

The speed and agility a man of his size possessed surprised her as he stepped before her, blocking her from standing. He crouched by the stool and nudged her hand away from where she was still rubbing her aching foot. He took her foot between his two large hands, and, despite the bite of pain from the pressure, it felt marvelous.

She couldn’t help but moan, and then followed it up with a nervous chuckle. “I can’t believe just how much my feet ache, but your touch is amazing.”

She’d never felt like this before, both soothed and disturbed. Her usual bouts of physical contact occurred to scratch an itch with no real intimacy and no emotion. Yet she found she enjoyed spending time with Dallam, enjoyed spending hours in stimulating conversation about everything from the mundane to the fantastical. He shared the same passion for his work she did for hers. She appreciated his intellect and how her social standing had no impact on his interactions with her.

The longer his fingers roamed her sore foot muscles, the more she lost thought of anything and everything but the feelings he evoked. She moaned again and dropped the journal, wanting more from him. She didn’t care about anything except his fingers on her body, and she wanted them on more than her feet. She reached out and clasped his hand in her own, stopping the motion. His bright eyes imprisoned her. She could see the desire and the regret in the depths, but she knew he would step away from her with just one word. She would utter no word.

She took the initiative and bent forward, kissing him. Her lips skimmed his. After the brief touch, she smiled as he moved her legs into his lap and took a seat on the stool. He made no move to resume the kiss.

About the Author

About Me . . . just a little because I’m pretty complicated

I am an author, a reader, a reviewer and proofreader. Venus Cahill (2).jpg

You can blame my parents for my love of reading and my personality! My first vivid memory is of my mother sitting me down on the potty with a book in my hands. Ever since then I will read anything available including extremely outdated magazines and shampoo bottles (rinse and repeat).
As far as my personality, when you are named for an amatory Roman Goddess you can’t help but start reading Harlequin novels when your classmates are still reading Judy Blume.
When I was a teen my father used to yell at me to get outside in the fresh air and I would have to sneak a book down my pant-leg, which was no easy task seeing as I was (and still am) a supreme klutz who trips over her own feet at least twice a day.
I usually have a minimum of four books on the go at the same time. I read fiction and non-fiction anything I can get my hands on; I love kilted hotties, demons with hearts of gold, shapeshifting Alpha males and any well-written leading man. My favourite heroines are curvy gals, after all I find them easy to relate to. However my favourites are happily-ever-after romances.

Interview with Reade Hayes of HER VAMPIRE’S PROMISE

Welcome Reade Hayes. Tell us a little about your story.

HER VAMPIRE’S PROMISE is a novella set in Central City, a place decimated by a fire twenty Vampires Promise (2)years ago at Panthera Laboratories. The fire killed several vampires and people, including a scientist and one of the founders of the laboratory. It was believed that his infant daughter, Lawrie, was killed with him.

The loss of the Lawrie nearly drives Reade Hayes mad as he’d sworn his life to protect her.

What do you do for a living?

I work for The Vampire Guard, protecting the people of Central City from one of the cruelest, twisted bastards I’ve ever met, and when you’ve been around for a couple hundred years, you’ve met a lot of sickos.

What was your childhood like? Happy? Moved around a lot?

My childhood? Good God, why would you ask about that? It was fine. Great, I guess. I suppose I had a nice family. Love my mom. She was a saint. Now I’m a vampire. My childhood had nothing to do with that happening, though, maybe there were a few life lessons I missed that might have prevented this. I don’t know. Why are you asking this?

What did you think of Lawrie when you first met?

Ha! I thought she was a whiny brat who never stopped crying. I never was one for kids. Imagine meeting your mate when she’s only a few days only and then having to wait until she’s fully grown. Of course, I didn’t know she was my mate at the time I met her. Don’t get any ideas. I didn’t have any thoughts about what she’d grow up into. I just knew that as sure as I knew I existed, I’d kill anyone to keep her safe. Anyone.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

No. Yes. Maybe. What’s with these stupid questions?

What do you like most about him/ her?

She’s smart, and pretty, beautiful, really. She’s perfect. She tough as nails and doesn’t back down from any fight. She’s brilliant. Did I say she was smart? She’s amazing. I can’t think of anything I don’t like. Other than her right hook. No one else has ever broken my nose. She’s got an unbelievably fast right hook.

Describe her in one word?

Perfect.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

Are you kidding? It was the day she broke my nose, then kneed me in the groin, then punched me in the face. That had to be the most embarrassing moment we’ve ever had together. She did cry, and not because she felt bad for beating the crap out of me. She cried because she broke her hand on my face, which is what happens when a human slugs a vampire. We’re a bit tougher than you.

What is your favorite food?

Lawrie. Is that too much information, too gross? You asked. What did you expect?

What is the perfect place to live?

Wherever Lawrie wants to be. Right now we go between an apartment at the base and my house on the outskirts of town, though we’re there much less due to security reasons.

Here’s the blurb:

Reade Hayes knows better than any vampire that nothing good ever comes out of Central City. So he isn’t surprised the beautiful blonde he meets in a dive bar is crazy. What does surprise him is how fast she moves, how hard she hits, and the fact she’s wearing a ring he last saw two decades ago on the hand of his dead friend.

Is it possible the little girl he swore a blood pact to protect didn’t die in the fire? If the beauty sitting beside him is that pretty little baby, where has she been for twenty years? And why is she so lethal?

On hindsight Lawrie Tyrone realizes drinking vampire blood might not have been the smartest decision. But scientists experiment and if she is going to prove her father was not a traitor, she has to take risks. So far she’s experienced no alarming side effects, well, none other than being able to recognize vampires walking among humans.

From the power he exudes to his gorgeous dark eyes everything about the man to her right screams danger. Every logical thought tells her to kill him. But something in his eyes stops her. Is he using his vampire powers to influence her, or is something else making her heart ache for him?

Can love thrive in the ruins of Central City?

Author Bio:

Jordan loves vampires. She also loves to laugh. And if you know anything about Jordan, you know her vampires will make you laugh.  JordanKRose_WEB-001 copy (2)

A few years back Jordan received a copy of Twilight from her husband as part of her anniversary gift. By the end of that week she’d read the entire series and moved onto Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Eight weeks and eighteen vampire books later the idea for her first book came to her followed very quickly by Eva Prim.

The Eva Prim Series follows the night-to-night escapades of The Demon Mistress, a vampire with the inexplicable ability to call demons. With both full-length novels and short stories the series has a bit of something for everyone. Book three, The Road To Hell, releases in Fall of 2017.

Jordan’s other books include Black Magic Rose, book one of The Alliance Series, where the world is set in a hospital run by vampires and werewolves; and The Central City Romance Series, where members of The Vampire Guard one-by-one find love in the ruins of the city.  Her Vampire Protector releases late 2016.

When she’s not writing about one vampire or another Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband, Ken and their lovable Labradors, Dino and Enzo on the beautiful beaches of New England.
