Hi my name is Tinsel Sugarplum. Welcome to our party in the big red barn. Hope you got your dancing shoes on!

My favorite song to dance to is Rock around the Christmas Tree. I listen to that song all year long.

At this time of the year it’s our tradition to have pot luck at the party. I’m a gluten-free elf and I’m not a very good cook, but I love dessert. Here is my recipe for Gluten-Free One Bite Brownie Christmas Trees.

Joys of the Season

I am a history buff. I’m lucky enough to have a pioneer village just a few miles from me. For two weekend in December they celebrate Christmas in the Village. At each of the buildings, they have a different traditional Christmas celebration for the 1850 – 1880’s.

At one house, they have a traditional German Christmas Eve. They depict Christmas eve with a fir tree, called Tannenbaum which is usually put up and decorated with real candles, glass balls or straw ornaments and sweets. A star or an angel tops the tree and beneath the tree, a nativity scene might be set up and the homemade presents next to it.

The aroma of baking fills the house, including gingerbread hearts, sugar-roasted almonds, cookies, and stollen.

At the English house, they depict Christmas day, with the homemade presents under the Christmas tree. There are no candles on this tree. On the table were dishes of Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, mulled wine and mincemeat pies.

They also did a demonstration of how to make your own Christmas crackers, which are paper rolled into tubes with small toys or puzzles in them. To start the meal, you would break these open.

At the Scottish house, they depicted New Years, or Hogmanay.  The tradition is you return everything you have borrowed, you sweep the bad luck out the door just before midnight, then form a circle and sing ‘Auld Lang Syne’.

To ensure good luck for the house, the ‘first foot’ over the door should be male, dark haired and should bring gifts such coal, shortbread, salt, black bun and whisky.

They served shortbread cookies and mead, or mulled wine.

I love celebrating Christmas with such wonderful traditions and we go as a family every year.

We are giving away prizes to two randomly selected winners: 1) an ebook bundle, including books in various genres by various authors participating in the hop (see the list of books at the bottom of this page); or 2) a $50 Amazon gift card. If I were a Mobster Blogfest

mobster-blog

My mobster name would be Pearl. I have long, blonde hair so I took my name from that.

I would be a femme fatale type. You know the type that is always in noir stories, but I’m not really a femme fatale because I’m a succubus.

I’ve been sent to work in Toronto the good. Torontonians lie to themselves about what a wonderful city they live it. They call it Toronto the good, but if it was that good, would I be assigned to collect souls from all the bad men there? I think not. I lean into them and say, female-mobster“See you in hell,” before I take their souls. I’m nice like that.

My weapon of choice is my long, wavy blonde hair, curvy body, and sultry eyes that make men weak in the knees A girl has to use her assets to get ahead, doesn’t she?

So how do I collect these souls you may ask? All I have to do is look at a man, do a little shimmy, and they follow me anywhere, usual to a hotel room where I get down to business.

When you see me riding down the street on my Velocity red Harley Davidson Roadster, you’ll know it’s dark and dirty time, so lock up your guys to keep their souls safe.

My new release, TARTAN TEMPTATION, is available on pre-order from The Wild Rose Press. Release date: November 9,2016.

tartantemptation_w10679_300Blurb: Financial planner Cora Siegfried has returned to her hometown to settle her late father’s estate. Get in, get out, that’s the plan. When she’s almost run over by a kilt-wearing hottie on a motorcycle, all her well-laid plans go up in smoke, and all she can think about is getting well laid by her childhood crush. But after what she hoped would be a one-night stand, leaving him might not be as easy. Talk about a tartan temptation.

With his throne on the line, Brodie Murdock needs to secure his kingdom by taking a bride. When the only woman he’s ever wanted steps right into his path, he knows the legends are true. She is his destiny. The feisty female isn’t hard to seduce into his bed for the night, but she’s proving difficult to convince they are meant for forever. And then there’s the secret that could destroy any chance of their future–a secret he’s not ready to confess. Not until his stubborn soul mate admits she needs him for more than sex.

Summer Treats & Reads – Kayden Style

TWRP Summer blog hop

Blog – Summer Treats and Reads

What is your best memory of Summer?

I loved sitting on the grass under a tree. The only thing I needed was a cool drink and great book.

We’d make fruit juice slushies in the freezer then scoop them into a cup and sit down for a wonderful afternoon.

Here’s my idea of a summer treat — adult style.

White Sangria Slushie

1 cup dry white wine – preferably Sauvignon Blanc

1 ½ oz brandy

1 ½ oz simple syrup

½ oz fresh lemon juice

1 cup frozen peach slices

Mint sprig

Short straws

Place wine, brandy, simple syrup, and lemon juice in an airtight container and freeze for at least 6 hours and up to 3 days.

Place 2 wine glasses in freezer for at least 30 minutes.

Pour drink mixture and frozen peaches into blender. Blend till smooth. Divide into glasses by spoon. Garnish with mint sprig and short straws.

Makes 2 servings.

Simple Syrup

Combine equal parts sugar and boiling water, stir to dissolve and store in fridge until chilled.

Food & Drink Summer 2016

My recommendation for a great summer read is RED HOT.
